In 2016 the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development revised their regulations to allow Housing Quality Standards (HQS) to be conducted on a biennial basis (every 2 years).
To help streamline the inspection process, effective July 1, 2020, the MCHA will implement a system that conducts HQS inspections of currently leased units every other year.
Units with inspections scheduled in even months (August, October etc) will be inspected in even years 2020, 2022, etc. Units with inspections scheduled in odd months (July, September, etc) will be inspected in odd years, 2021, 2023, etc.
The MCHA will continue to conduct HQS inspections when a unit joins the HCVP and when there is an emergency condition or complaint from a:
- Landlord or;
