HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM

              RESIDENT RESPONSIBILITIES

HOUSING ASSISTANCE IS A PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT
IF YOU ABUSE THE PRIVILEGE, YOU MAY LOSE YOUR ASSISTANCE

  • Give MCHA true information about your family and your income
     

  • Cooperate, by providing requested information, during your annual reexaminations with MCHA
     

  • Notify MCHA, in writing, if you or anyone in your family has a change in income
     

  • Live in the unit. You may NOT sublet it to someone else
     

  • Notify MCHA, in writing, if:
    -you are away from home for more than 30 days
    -you move out or end your lease
    -you receive an eviction notice
     

  • Allow MCHA inspectors to inspect the unit annually, and at other times, with prior notice
     

  • Notify MCHA, in writing, if:
    -any member of your family moves out
    -if you add any children to your family by birth, adoption, foster care, or legal
     custody
     

  • Receive prior authorization from MCHA and your landlord before anyone not already on the voucher may move in
     

  • Pay your portion of the rent and utilities on time
     

  • Abide by your lease. You and your family MUST NOT get involved with crime, drugs, or violence
     

  • Take care of the unit. Do not allow anyone in your family or guests to damage it
     

  • Follow ALL Obligations of the Family as listed on the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development Voucher of the Housing Choice Voucher Program that is signed when you receive your voucher
